I have used almost every brand of tools available in my 24 years of turning. I kept hearing about the Thompson Tools… Now they are the first tools that I reach for out of my rack. They hold an edge longer than any other tool that I know of. Truly a blessing when you turn as much as I do. I highly recommend you give Doug Thomson a call. Or check his web site: http://thompsonlathetools.com
Thank you Doug Thompson for the sponsorship!!

Yes, I do have Carbide tools in my tool rack, but only the ones made by Hunter Tool Systems. I wrote a story about teaching beginners with the Viceroy tool. It was edited and published by the AAW on their online publication "Woodturning Fundamentals"
I use the Number 1 set almost daily. for more info: http://huntertoolsystems.com
